Overworked and little reward - Research Program Coordinator Mount Sinai Health System Employee Review

Pros

Flexible hybrid/remote structure, location, extensive training library, generous PTO.

Cons

Generally, Mount Sinai tends to have a culture of overworking its employees. You're given work outside of your role and expected to do everything perfectly, even though your responsibilities could fill an entire resume and qualify as multiple full-time jobs. Though I tried and tried with management, the Chair, and Dean to refine my role and have my salary reflect my professional responsibilities, I was never given what I objectively deserved. They'd just dangle the carrot of a promotion in front of me, asked me to take on something else and do it well, and when I did, there would be something else and the cycle continued. I was constantly stressed, completely and ruthlessly overworked, and consequently destroyed my health.

Pros

salary pay instead of hourly so you still get the same paycheck on a month you took vacation. good for new grads to get experience with chronically sick patients.

Cons

PA leadership is unsupportive and the hospital admins care more about patients who have donated money to the hospital. pay is low compared to NYC PAs as a whole. and patients’ behavior is a problem.
