Pros

Overall, this is a pretty damn good place to work. In some groups, startup culture without the startup a*holes. Non profit while getting paid. Open source with the potential to make an impact. But it's really time to focus on one's own personal development and use it as on ramp toward something else. Lots of autonomy Comp and benefits are competitive Work remote or ability to transfer offices Pragmatic/Lean approach in some groups Great to focus on learning, working on interesting things Less direct relationship of ads, money, and sales toward corporate objectives

Cons

Institutional resistance to change. Few good ideas due to lack of understand of what users really care about It's hard enough to make a great product let alone: ethical, moral, vegetarian, open source, community driven, on all screens. Lack of alignment of strategy of how we 'win' in the industry. Liberal/Libertarian utopia is just a mirage? Execs need to clean out some of the 'module' owners and managers that simply want to guard their nerd tower. Can't flush away legacy code, which slows down the speed of development.

Pros

Great health insurance benefits. Literally you pay nothing per pay check. Also parental leave is 6 months which is rare in the US. Wellness days were nice too.

Cons

Lack of black people in and promoted to senior / management positions even though there are many qualified people to be there. Also management cannot make decisions. They are leaps and bounds behind the competition and many lack competence.
