Pros
Excellent brands with great history, heritage and brand equity. Decent salary, benefits and good perks, particularly if you work out of the corporate office. Majority of personnel are highly competent.
Cons
Generally very lean organization so workers tend to become very stressed and overworked over time. If you are not in the good old boys/girls club, you will get passed over for opportunities, so little room for advancement. High degree of favoritism. Multiple reorgs over the years and key roles are not posted to allow candidates to fairly apply, as “ favored” employees are placed in the role. No real diversity in Senior Management, particularly within sales (few women, no people of color in any VP roles). Company talks a good game about expanding diversity, but has done little to move it forward. Indications of deeper problems of biases amongst senior man agent, either through comments or actions. Historically, very little training offered to managers (again, offered to select people). Senior management very disconnected from the rank and file, with little communication offered. Very reactionary company that rarely gets in front of opportunities and usually jumps in well after trends indicate they should do so. Management takes a lot of credit for work they don’t execute or perform. I can go on…..
