Pros
Strong Employees, Weak Leadership Transparency. Potential Exists, But Leadership Undermines It. There are many kind and highly skilled employees at MultiCare, yet many of them go unrecognized. Advancement often seems tied to personal connections within leadership rather than merit, performance, or demonstrated talent.
Cons
There are significant concerns regarding the SCORE Survey at MultiCare. Although employees are told the survey is anonymous, leadership — including the president, CEO, and other executives — reportedly review individual comments. Many employees believe this information has been used in ways that negatively affect job security. Employees also report that accountability is inconsistent and that promotions sometimes appear to be influenced by personal preference, internal politics, or alignment with leadership rather than performance or qualifications. In my own experience, the organization used information from a job description that was created to claim that there was no need for that position. However, after I left, the same position was reposted, creating the impression that the decision was not based on an actual lack of need but on internal motives that were not communicated transparently. Additionally, it appears that major decisions across the organization — from HR matters to operational choices — are tightly controlled by the President/CEO, even when the process is presented as compliant and collaborative. While I understand that some may assume my review is motivated solely by the fact that I was let go, the issues I experienced and witnessed go far beyond that. The leadership culture is often toxic, with certain leaders undermining staff and allowing lengthy, hostile emails to be sent without any consequences. There have also been instances where leaders have had emotional outbursts or yelled at their teams, again with no accountability. Many employees feel that support staff and others are retained or advanced based on personal relationships or perceived loyalty, race rather than their ability to perform the work effectively. This creates an environment where talented, hardworking individuals are overlooked, and poor behavior is tolerated.
