Pros
The canvassers are paid well and treated as part of the staff-your opinions, hard work, and needs are all given real weight in this small organization. There is a real sense of camaraderie among the staff, and the Executive Director knows your name even if you're a part-time canvasser. I can't recommend this organization highly enough to anyone with a passion for reproductive freedom.
Cons
Canvassing is a difficult job, and there are going to be unpleasant nights. The canvassing team does everything possible to dampen the effects of these nights, but it will happen. The only other con I have is one that comes with the territory of small nonprofits-there isn't a whole lot of room for growth. Promotions are few and far between because there simply isn't money to fund a lot of higher up positions. That said, it does happen, just don't count on moving up the ladder very quickly.
