Pros

- people, mentorship, technology, culture, projects: every single box is checked - opportunity for career growth is properly scaled and available. Tons of mentorship opportunities - can really catapult yourself here and contribute to literal satellites and rovers going to space/other planets

Cons

- red tape (federal institution), not as bad as other federal institutions though - often too risk averse and can't get out of their own way when trying to design and implement successful designs. This rigor can be annoying, but is admittedly why JPL's success rate is so high.

Excellent fit for superconducting detectors, KIDs/TKIDs, cryogenic readout, microwave systems, and quantum/space sensing. JPL has work in superconducting devices, microwave readout, quantum detectors, and advanced sensors.

Cons

Salary; Many restrictions, internal review, export-control considerations, and delays before publication.
