Pros

The scientist are top notch at NIH. The resources are abundant and available. Their is a closeness with your peers.

Cons

Unless you have a degree in the field you are employed in than you are left on the outside of your group. Team building is hit or miss and if you have a degree, moving up the ladder is much easier than not having a degree. This goes double if you are a contractor looking to become a fed. Unless you have really caring, competent management you may feel like a second class citizen.

Pros

Working with the some of the smartest scientists and clinicians in the world. So many learning opportunities. Kind patients. Allowed time to care for patients as there is no pressure of quotas by health insurance.

Cons

Nursing management can be verbally abusive with frequent retaliation and intimidation. As most older nurses have worked there for most of their career, they are dismissive of new perspectives and resistant to evidence-based practice.
