Pros

Very nice to get into NIH, meet new people, very rewarding as far learning the hospital, learning certain scientific terms, physical activity, communication with patients and different cultures as well as staff.

Cons

after applying if selected you are trained take a test then it is decided if you qualify, then after that if you do you are put on call (most people are not aware of this and it isnt good at all) on call doesnt supply enough hours for sufficient pay especially when uninformed. supervisors or on teams with each other and dont at all protect the interest of their employees, office is constantly extremely micro managed, there is no recognition at all for excellence and hard work, employees often treated as children when being spoken to be those in supervisory positions and there have been many that have been wrongfully fire and it has been done so in an unprofessional manner often times being repromanded or pulled out of the office in front of people to be repromanded. over all i wouldnt say there is anything wrong with the service of the company and im not aware of how professianlly they treat each other at headquarters but something needs to be done about the offices that the contract works in. Alot of un needed stress and anxiety for employees is caused because of the negative enviornment and because of always worrying of being fired for practically nothing. more communication is needed

Pros

Working with the some of the smartest scientists and clinicians in the world. So many learning opportunities. Kind patients. Allowed time to care for patients as there is no pressure of quotas by health insurance.

Cons

Nursing management can be verbally abusive with frequent retaliation and intimidation. As most older nurses have worked there for most of their career, they are dismissive of new perspectives and resistant to evidence-based practice.
