Pros

Great pay and good benefits. The facilities, equipment, funding, and training opportunities are amazing. You can do research at the NIH that you wouldn't be able to do elsewhere. I've had fantastic interactions with very genuine, helpful, and brilliant people.

Cons

Lots of bureaucratic red tape that slows things down compared with an academic or industry setting. Getting competing quotes and having to wait so long when placing orders can cause delays. Work and research space is limited.

Slow at times, but there are also very busy periods.

Pros

Working with the some of the smartest scientists and clinicians in the world. So many learning opportunities. Kind patients. Allowed time to care for patients as there is no pressure of quotas by health insurance.

Cons

Nursing management can be verbally abusive with frequent retaliation and intimidation. As most older nurses have worked there for most of their career, they are dismissive of new perspectives and resistant to evidence-based practice.
