Poor and Toxic Workplace - Anonymous employee NJ TRANSIT Employee Review

Toxic, erratic, and disorganized. Leadership is amongst the worst I’ve seen and I have worked for a number of years at this point when I arrived at transit. Did I mention professionalism? Non-existent, you have certain persons in senior leadership whom can’t even properly construct sentences together and use buzz words to sound sophisticated like if they’re conveying anything of importance. QA/QC Mechanical is not real QA and QC whatsoever, they don’t even use a change Mangement system nor do they have a way of vetting all SOPs for each department, oops I meant SMPs. Corporate seems to have a ton of unskilled professionals in management positions, I’ve witnessed it predominantly in Safety. Favoritism is evident along with personal vendettas towards employees for speaking their mind or simply stating the facts. This is a job not high school and many of the chiefs, deputy chiefs, sr directors, directors, sr managers and managers are guilty of this behavior. There is a reason why safety is a joke at this entity when you have programs that have not been modified and finalized since 2011, how embarrassing. Gossip is also something that you witness in departments like Bus where most employees cannot keep private information to themselves and start spreading rumors like wildfire. Never met so many unintelligent people in my life until I arrived at transit and needless to say, not a surprise, but depending on which part of the railroad you are in; you may face racism from colleagues who’ll make comments about plantations, picking cotton, and so forth. If you are a professional of any sorts, avoid working for transit as you will witness sexism, racism, unprofessionalism, favoritism unlike nowhere else. It’s unbelievable that leadership is offended when you do not like them, this isn’t a popularity contest, this is a job. Most former employees that have left, have received higher salaries and a morale boost.
