Pros

Nice coworkers, bountiful opportunities for overtime, good benefits including a generous PPO health insurance plan through Horizon BCBS, employer matched 401k up to 8%, dental benefit through Delta $1500 max plan, $1k orthodontics lifetime, and flex spending plans available . The company also provides in house education by the institutes for associates degrees and cpcu

Cons

Horrible system in scheduling days off and to leave on the same day requires approval from upper management as a courtesy, the old system was much better in electing days off provided a number in line to leave early, at least on the same day. It also became a requirement to work mandatory "skeleton" days, such as Presidents' Day, etc. Sure you are compensated but you're not given a real option to say no. The department also is quite understaffed due to a high turn over. New hires are college grads who do not care for the profession and leave once a better opportunity presents itself. It causes a lot of miscommunication on the floor, not everyone abides by the same guidelines, nor were they trained the same so it creates havoc and delays in trying to service the customer when they've been provided incorrect information. Found something done half way, expect it came from the Hammonton office or Parsippany, the training between the offices differs resulting in confusion for the customer. The micromanagement within the sections has grown, from reviewing two quality calls a month to three. Certain supervisors take it upon themselves to review calls and forward them to management to dictate punishment instead of coaching their actual staff, it seemed as though they would win brownie points for throwing their own under the bus. Resulting in low morale on the floor and employees who want to establish or continue a career in insurance, they leave and move on to better careers. A lot of existing business has been leaving due rate increases which staff has not been provided a method of responding adequately to the customers about. Also the induction of the insurance score report has created havoc . All other carriers do not provide as detailed information as NJM, resulting in less of a headache. Overall I'm extremely happy I left on my own terms, the department has become a sinking ship and I abandoned ship at the first opportunity given.
