Pros
Very little institutional control. Corporate lets the business units operate like the wild, wild west. Some managers take good care of their people. Others do not. This can afford you a great deal of freedom to run your group how you want.
Cons
The company is moving into the "big time." Benefits used to be outstanding, but are now regressing to the industry average... which is their goal. Solid management teams are getting thinned out. NOV is about who you know, not what you've done or know. Those with the golden capes will continue to rise through the ranks irregardless of performance. Little to no cross divisional opportunities. NOV is 100% aligned with the promote from within... so much so you can only get promoted from within your business unit. Make sure you choose wisely. NOV always has, and always will be, at the bottom of the pay scale.
