Pros

Tremendous ability to network if you have the capacity. Ability to be surrounded by young passionate individuals on the cusp of greatness. There are tremendous people who can open big doors for you here. Centrally located in the heart of Greenwich Village NYC. Stable work environment, opportunities to grow and work for years at this university. Modern facilities for the most part, access to local community is priceless. Ability to ingratiate yourself into the community aplenty. Certain perks and benefits . New leadership Mr Hamilton shows promise, but only time will tell if he can actually influence some of the worst values and culture long established before his tenure.

Cons

Too many middle managers, extremely micro-managed, inefficiencies abound. Your voice will not be heard unless you know someone very high up the chain. Restructuring of career titles and their subsequent codes are done without notice to keep salaries under market value, Financial aid is very limited, contrary to what is told to incoming students. Very corporate feel to the back office protocols. Managers have Napoleon complexes at most vital levels of leadership which constricts ability to speak about wrong doings and/or things that may not be appropriate in other office settings. You will be asked to do more with a lot less, and you may feel like you are being blamed for not achieving specific goals that are outside of your control. Software tools are limited in terms of Bursar office. If you work in finanical aid or bursar you are basically bottom of the respective totem pole in terms of level of respect given by other departments. Blame is given to these two departments even though they are essentially the backbone of the entire university. If you do not make money for this university you will not be revered. Student body may be diverse but not leadership roles. Predominately reserved for affluent whites, this includes faculty. Not staff

Pros

Good benefits, friendly office, easy work, good pay. Worked FT in the summer.

Cons

Grad Assistant / advisors were required to do drop-in advising hours. Which is fine except we didn't have access to a lot, so we couldn't help students half the time. Because of the union you could only work 20 hours / week. Which honestly sucked because the work was easy and I would've loved to pick up a few more hours.
