Pros

Like every company, there are good things about working here. They are currently in the process of building a new facility, which looks wonderful and promises to be a really snazzy place to work. There will be a (small) gym for employees to use, complete with showers. Everyone is friendly and pleasant to work with. There is a program for tuition reimbursement, which is nice.

Cons

From personal experience I feel like the company is more focused on their brand recognition and the perception that the community has of them than they are of taking care of their employees. As long as you are the type that comes to work, puts in minimal effort, and keeps your head down then you'll be fine. The stress in INCREDIBLE. I have been here for a year and have seen the company grow so large so fast that they are unable to keep up with demands. When employees have expressed their concerns regarding this, the amount of work and pressure being pressed upon them, they are met with non-committal and generic responses such as "we're all under a lot of pressure, you just have to deal with it" or "perhaps you should lower your expectations of yourself." They don't want to deal with anything problematic. It's also impossible to move within the company; if you prove your worth in one department but wish to move, management will do what they can to avoid losing you. I had a friend whose application for another department was pulled by her own manager because she didn't want to have to find and train a replacement. Another coworker had to have the manager of the department she wanted to transfer to put pressure on upper management to ensure she even had a chance to interview for a new position. I have never met any of the upper management. I have never seen nor spoken with the president or CEO, no one checks in on us, not even lower management. We are left to our own devices.

Thank you for you feedback. Anyone familiar with our system knows that we strongly encourage and greatly appreciate open and honest dialogue from all our employees. Constructive feedback is one of the primary ways for us to improve on perceptions and/or challenges. Our employees are responsible for making our system exceptional. They are a highly dedicated team committed to our mission and work passionately to fulfill it every day. We strive to give interested parties every opportunity to grow, learn and make valuable contributions to our system – empowering people with the tools they need to succeed. We work hard to ensure that our long, rich 128-year history of service to the community is preserved by always have a plan in place to remain viable, competitive and ahead of the changing healthcare landscape. Doing so has included such initiatives as building partnerships with other long-standing organizations in the community such as Home Aides of Central New York, the implementation of a Managed Long-Term Care (MLTC) Medicaid Plan into 48 counties throughout New York State, and enhancing our services with the addition of the Eldercare Social Adult Day Program. Most recently, we rebranded our system to Nascentia Health, a better reflection of who we are and our vision for the future. As is the case with any re-branding, it takes time and a considerable amount of effort by all team members. As evidenced by corporate-wide company meetings, our leadership team remains 100% transparent to all employees. Additionally, our open-door policy affords all employees with full access to discuss their questions or concerns anytime. Nascentia Health recognizes the value of their employees and works hard to create a culture where employees will find their work gratifying both professionally and personally.

Pros

Good work/life balance and opportunity to plan your own schedule.

Cons

Leadership offered no opportunities for advancement or mentorship programs for high potential candidates. Annual reviews “appeared” to be fair and controlled by HR with processes, however, were in fact very subjective by their leadership team whom engaged in falsifying performance reviews to negate top performers yet reward non-performers with raving performance reviews. Top leadership provided no support, did not set clear expectations, did not listen to employees and actually engaged in publicly demeaning their direct reports which directly caused poor morale amongst entire team.
