Pros

Differentiated technology. A commercially successful example of NGS in the clinic. Many opportunities to grow and have an impact. And of course, catered lunches on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Cons

Founding team is still trying to run the company as an old boys club instead of embracing the talent brought in post-IPO. Promotion criteria, annual goals, and performance metrics unclear. Favored individual contributors have been promoted to management positions with little evidence of leadership, business acumen, or even proficiency in their functional roles. Company culture embodies the Silicon Valley stereotype of youthful arrogance. Software managers perpetuate this stereotype by overstepping boundaries, assuming that technology expertise translates to commercial success. Additionally, software managers have a disproportionate voice on the senior management team, which allows them to shelter their teams at the expense of other functions. This results in a love/hate bifurcation: people in the protected groups will give the company five stars and people in the unprotected groups will give unfavorable reviews on Glassdoor.

We agree wholeheartedly that we should trust and listen to our people which is why we have recently conducted a formal and thorough employee engagement survey. We are working diligently to use the feedback from the survey and all other feedback we receive through TINYpulse and Glassdoor to improve the areas that concern employees most. Action plans to address and resolve those concerns are actively being made now in order to reach our goal to become the best places to work in 2017. Thanks for your feedback and best wishes to you!

Pros

Benefits, pay, and catered lunch orders every shift. Company currently growing and seeking to expand its operations. Will learn plenty in lab with the training--opened my eyes to how biotech industry can work with this being my first professional role.

Cons

Fast-paced environment with less consideration for slower coworkers, coworkers that felt cliquey, and management that seemed distant and unapproachable. Getting along with coworkers was the toughest part for me. Some coworkers seemed unapproachable. Had trouble feeling a sense of belonging on the team with seemingly constant critique about my performance with very little mentioning of people seeing improvement.
