Pros
There is nothing much to be happy about working in the Sales office unless you are a crony of the management.
Cons
The list is long. There is bad mouthing and demoralizing of employees constantly as this is perceived to contribute to the employee's "growth". There is a lot of gossip and twisted politics. There is almost no career progression in CSR, TSC, or marketing departments unless you suck up to the management. The progression arrow is defined if you are in application engineering and it goes as such: Application engineer, field application engineer and field sales engineer (these roles have money but for the constantly demoralizing MD breathing down your spine). However, if you are female, you will be an application engineer (provided you can lift a heavy piece of equipment in your interview) and will move on to becoming a TSC i.e. technical sales consultant. I cannot think of ANYTHING good about the NI India sales office. This is contrary to what the management thinks - they think that having a bright-lit office environment with large desks and coffee machines that use real milk instead of powdered shows great employee care. Sure, the large desks are great, but you definitely don't feel like getting up in the morning and going to work. The time you spend there will suck the life out of you, and the only reason you will tell yourself to stay there will be the money. There are a few (very good, smart and able) people who do tremendously well here. However, this number is very small. The rest of the clan that does well is mostly the group that is rude, bad-mouths, sucks up to the "higher" management, and thinks they're doing a good job because they can take a demeaning tone with others. The only pro in this whole thing is that the corporate office in the US is a gem to work with, but who cares, because your interaction with them will be minimum and highly moderated. I am especially appalled at the behaviour of the managers of all the teams in the sales office. I am constantly surprised how demeaning people have constantly been the preferred choice for these roles - badmouthers, yellers, and generally people who either micro-manage or are always rude. I hope to think that they were not like this all their adult lives. I would not recommend this company (India sales office only).
