Pros

Great work environment. Meet some very interesting people.

Cons

Some management recognize that you are a law enforcement officer. Most don’t want you to do your job. Other coworkers interfere with your law enforcement duties as tell you not to write any citations for violations. This creates a very dangerous situation for the staff and resources. Since the majority of the jobs are seasonal, there is a lot of backstabbing especially for military veterans because they have hiring preference. Housing in most park are horrible and overpriced to be out in the middle of nowhere. A lot of incompetent managers running the parks. That’s why there’s a financial mismanagement going on In NPS. Seen a lot of bullying from management and they’re not accountable for their actions because they’re part of a clique. Coworkers more concern with being people’s favorite and hiking than doing their enforcement duties. This agency’s law enforcement program is disorganized and a joke.
