Seasonal Interpretive Ranger - Seasonal Interpretive Ranger National Park Service Employee Review

Pros

- Endless opportunity to self-educate on relevant material. - Incredibly passionate fellow employees

Cons

- Pay is rather menial when you consider nearly all employees have at a minimum a bachelor's degree and are constantly bettering themselves professionally. - Lack of stable career progression; moving every 6 months for years on end to ultimately take a full-time job at a less than desirable location does not inspire long-term employees. - Unfortunately, much like any job, one bad supervisor can bring down an entire visitor center, having a better supervisory structure could alleviate some of these issues. - Visitor centers tend to be incredibly under-staffed during "off-seasons" resulting in 1-2 employees often working alone.
