Steady pay, decent benefits, good amount of Paid vacation/sick time, lots of trade-related training, opportunity for advancement either laterally or vertically, government retirement system (retire after 30 years).

Cons

Sometimes boring, hurry up and wait, forced overtime sometimes, forced travel out of state sometimes, government job, parking situation is terrible

Pros

Decent pay and benefits for the area, unique work that you can't do many other places, good opportunities for travel and promotion

Cons

Commute and parking turns 8 hour shifts into 10 hour shifts, mandatory overtime and travel for periods of several months, frequent shutdowns, very poor morale, terrible first level supervision, mediocre middle management
