Pros
This applies to the engineering department. -If you aren't a great fit for you current job, they will usually find a position for you. This is because of the long and expensive security clearance process. They can't afford to just hire people willy nilly. -First level managers are great for the most part! They look out for their people and want their employees to be happy. -Lots of paid overtime available if you want it, less if you don't. -Fresh out of college engineering pay climbs pretty fast and is darn good from what I've seen. -Excellent job security
Cons
-Second level Managers (GS-14+)--there seems to be a bit of a Nepotism going on. My department is lacking in good leaders. -The engineering work is very prescriptive. Pretty much every problem has already been solved at some point. -Process changes are akin to moving mountains.
