Pros
The heath benefits- 401k- pension- etc are a pro but things are shaking up quickly since the start of the year and many negative changes are being put into effect.
Cons
These changes impact employees ability to qualify for certain things like PIP (partners in performance), which is a bonus you get yearly. It’s true NFCU has not once taken it away but they have enacted multiple new changes to how your performance is perceived to make it impossible to now qualify for one and you have to work harder only to be told that you don’t qualify because of some arbitrary KPI. So it’s a double edged sword. You work your butt off for them and they don’t need to pay anything out to you in the end. The business will still thrive because they are still getting excellent service promoting and upselling from us, they still make the money but they don’t need to pay out any of it to us. We see none of the benefits. Circling back to the headline. Work life balance is a joke. “Business Needs” is constantly thrown around to deny helping employees with their scheduling needs. There have been many voice of the employee surveys where employees voiced their concerns and their response was to re affirm the employees use their sick time and vacation time when needed. Verse offering some schedule change options. Essentially saying “your voice doesn’t matter, we are not willing to help you, get in line or leave.” But of course worded in very business professional terms to also make it seem like they care without offering any real solutions. And of course they throw around the term “business needs” like it’s candy. They hide behind it as a way to decline anything and everything they don’t want to do. The schedules being offered are NOT manageable by anyone who may be a parent or have responsibilities outside of work and cannot devote 100% of themselves to the company but again they throw around “business needs” to fly under the radar as an “equal opportunity employer” so they don’t get in trouble for signaling out parents or a certain minority. Don’t get me wrong they will still hire you. But they will make it impossible for you to balance work and life unless you take FLMA which is unpaid time and not typically an option for most people and they know that so it’s just another protection set up for them as a company. The new CEO is enacting changes that I have only seen don’t at corporate banks who are crooks that keep all the money at the top, placate their employees and take government hand outs. It makes me so disappointed and sad to see. I used to be so proud of NFCU and the way they took pride in themselves and their employees. The meticulous business decisions they made were very impressive in the past. Now you can clearly see what their main concern is. They will be loosing a lot of their employees but that is all apart of the plan seeing as if they loose their full time and part time employees they can hire more contractors for a fraction of the cost and not have to pay out the same benefits. It’s deceitful business practices. What they are going to realize sooner rather than later is the savings is not worth the cost to their business, members and reputation.
