- Promotions are incredibly rare. More often than not promotions are based purely on tenure rather than merit
- Very tedious and repetitive work
- Recent Assistant Vice Presidents micromanage a lot
- Ancient IT systems. This is true for both the laptops (for those who know they still run 32 bit excel) and IT support. If you need to call IT for any real problems its not unheard of to wait over and hour and a half on the line for a response. Another example is that they just started using Microsoft Office in 2020.
What I've usually found to be the case is that people are drawn in by the benefits and pay and either stay for decades or leave after a couple of years. The biggest differentiator between people who leave after a short stint or stay for decades is your capability to accept the level of tedious work you'll be doing. If you don't mind doing the tedious work for 8 hours day after day, you'll do fine here. However, if you are looking to learn new skills/progress your career I wouldn't recommend.
