Pros
Great colleagues that work hard and support each other.
Cons
Rewards and compensation appear good on paper… but they aren’t leading the market. They talk a good game but can’t live up to their own goals and commitments Progression is impossible; COVID and redundancies will worsen this. They say recruitment is open and fair when it isn’t really. Progression and better jobs rely on who you are mates with. Pay stagnation. The appearance of diversity is more important than anything… even at the expense of equality, fairness and doing things correctly. They treat employees badly and will never admit they have failed you as an employer. HR is archaic, brutal and incompetent. Putting passengers first exploded Band 1 and EGU grades that meant middle management was slashed to pay the bill. Now COVID is finishing the rest off! Executive levels are so out of touch with employees it’s a joke. They are paid more than twice the Prime Minister and have no clue of normal life. Poor employee engagement caused by loss of faith in the organisations leadership and ability to actually make improvements. When improvement is made it’s usually negated by other poor management issues. Executive blame unions for problems when it’s often caused by their failure to follow process or failure to respect the union. I’m not a union supporter but it can’t be hard for an employer to follow processes. Unions are not new to rail.
