Pros
Good annual leave, 35 hour standard week, train season ticket discount, central and convenient office, good employer for women (6 months full pay on maternity leave), open to flexible & part time working requests, some great colleagues who become like family, pre-covid - an annual pay rise was highly likely, strong union support and protection
Cons
Pay is no longer competitive particularly in Shared Services, not enough perm jobs (Shared Services uses secondments and FTCs even when perm vacancies exist!), questionable re-org decisions made by those who don’t seem to know what are jobs actually are, job titles/description not fit for purpose, poor management and senior leadership, previous perks (such as paid residential trips for team building/training) are long gone!
