Thrown into the role without training and criticized prematurely - Assistant Project Manager (APM) New Dominion Construction Employee Review

Pros

No pros to speak of

Cons

There was essentially no onboarding or training program for new employees. I was placed into the Assistant Project Manager role and expected to immediately understand company systems, procedures, and expectations with little guidance. After only about 30 days, management began criticizing my performance and claiming I “didn’t know what I was doing,” despite the fact that no formal training or ramp-up period had been provided. In most professional construction environments, a new hire is given at least 60–90 days to learn processes and get up to speed. Instead of constructive support or mentorship, the approach felt overly critical and dismissive.

Pros

Great working environment, great colleagues and leadership staff. From the top to the bottom, everyone is open and willing to help each other accomplish the same goals. They have pretty decent benefits, 401k as well as other compensations.

Cons

Currently haven't experienced any, other than the health benefits seem to be a bit expensive.
