Pros

At-will daily work. I have teacher certification, making pay higher than otherwise. Timing of work schedule corresponds to the hours my children were in school.

Cons

Subs get more discipline problems because the kids test you, and you inherit the baseline discipline the regular teacher has over the class--good or poor.

Stable hours, and working with the kids.

Cons

Feeling unsupported, subs are unable to support classrooms appropriately, extra duties without supplemental pay, impossible to feel good about the work you are doing.
