Pros

This organization has a culture unlike any other I have ever experienced. A leader in components in the industry. A national company with a small family owned business feel to it. One committed to development of you as an individual, in fact, it is who we are as a company. This organization attracts the highest caliber of people that are committed to being the best while also helping others to be the same. I am blown away by the tools that are in place that allow someone that is committed to success to achieve anything they set their mind to achieve. Those that are driven, work hard, consistently developing and evolving into a better version will be recognized and promoted. This company is set up to do just that....promote from within. The DNA of New Home Star is unlike any I have ever seen and I can not say enough good things about this company and the people that work for it. I am inspired every day to work hard and to develop my skills to become more and be more both for myself and the team I am a part of. If you want to be challenged and you want to grow and develop while being part of something bigger than yourself then this is the organization you want to find a way to become a part of. New Home Star changed my life and I often find myself thinking how lucky I am as I am driving to work in the morning. In fact, it rarely feels like work which reminds me of a saying...."Find something you love and you will never work a day in your life".

Cons

There are very few cons and these are really relative. You will give up your weekends when working in the position I currently hold. There are times of the year, typically in the Spring, when you will work long days and often 7 days a week. I am a workaholic so this is not a problem for me but can be hard for those with families. The only other con I can think of would be that the growth within the company will typically require a move to a new city or region. Again, not a challenge to me but could be for someone that has children etc. Please note these are so minor in the big picture and only affect some people and not all.

Thank you for your in depth feedback. We are so proud of our first core value, creating excellent careers for our people. Our goal is to have a management team comprised of 80%+ internal promotions. We are currently operating at 83%, and in 2020 we were able to promote 16 employees into management roles while only hiring 2 management level employees externally. Keep up the great work!

Pros

Company culture is everything at NHS, which remains my biggest highlight. I’ve genuinely felt valued here from the start. It doesn’t feel like you’re just another number; there’s a real effort to recognize people and make them feel seen. Teams are supportive, and people actually want their peers to succeed. It’s an environment where you can grow while also feeling appreciated for your contributions.

Cons

Like any growing organization, there are occasional growing pains as the company continues to evolve. Processes and priorities can shift, but that’s also part of what comes with progress and expansion.

Pros

New Home Star is one of those companies that really lives its values. The culture is supportive, driven, and genuinely focused on helping people grow. It’s fast-paced, and expectations are high—but that’s part of what makes it a great place to work if you like being challenged and learning constantly. What stands out most is how forward-thinking the company is. From technology to training to how teams collaborate, New Home Star is consistently ahead of the curve in the homebuilding space. They’re not stuck doing things “the old way,” and they actually invest in tools and systems that make people better at their jobs. It’s not perfect—no company is—but leadership listens, good work is recognized, and there’s a real sense of momentum. If you’re motivated, adaptable, and want to be part of something that’s growing and evolving, New Home Star is a great place to be.

Cons

The pace and expectations can be demanding at times, especially during busy seasons or major initiatives. Things move quickly, priorities can shift, and there’s a constant push to improve and adapt. While that creates a lot of opportunity, it can also feel intense if you prefer a slower, more predictable environment.
