Pros

Through everything I have experienced, I believe to be a better professional. I grew as a person from my experience and how to handle obstacles. the pay WAS great, not mediocre for the amount of work.

Cons

First thing I want to address is the huge change the CEO decided to make this year. Forcing all 1099 sales people to a W2 employees. The lack of care that was done to make this massive transition still baffles me. Announced on the companies platform, hardly any detail or explanation. Not to mention I received my offer of this TWO DAYS before having to sign. Which if you did not sign you would be considered unemployed. Do you understand what a transition like this can be for someone? This was a massive change for myself and others included and it was done so carelessly. They claim the reason for the transition is to help the company hire new employees and due to a response from a company survey that was sent out. Maybe before rolling this out you should have consulted people out on the field or even sent a 2nd round of surveys. From the looks of how many people have left since this transition...that was clearly not the truth. In reality, they CUT the pay of their sales people including top performers and tried to spin it off that it was to our own benefit. We can see the math...a 30K pay cut is NOT to our benefit. That is just my cut, I can't imagine those who were producing even more sales than me and what you cut form them. You claim this will allow you to promote form within and pay your management and corporate team more. How about you just pay them what they are worth?! I can't believe the amount of meetings, travel, training, builder presentations you have some of these people do and what you are paying them. I have been let down by this company more than once and I stuck around because of the pay and you managed to fumble the bag. I lost my trust in you and STOPPED drinking the Koolaid. You claim that the most important part of the company is the people yet you do everything to support the builder and do not hear the struggles the sales team has to deal with out on the field. You want to keep your builder partner happy so you can continue to expand and grow at the cost of your own people. I worked extremely hard for this company and I know I am a rare breed who is willing to work more than the rest to get the job done. I had no work life balance and I realize that it was part of my own doing, however it is extremely difficult task for the average person to do when you try to have a balance and meet goals, keep buyers happy, and keep the builder happy. The company platform has so much potential to help, yet you allow some really mind numbing behavior. The thirst for points is so nauseating had no choice but to hardly take part in the facade that was created. Warning!!! You do not receive your commissions UNTIL the home you sold is CLOSED. Which means if you rack up 50-100K in homes that you have sold and you decide to leave, you will receive a small fraction if anything at all once you quit. It is a huge incentive to stay and in order to stay employed you need to sell and meet your goals. It is an endless cycle. This is called the GOLDEN HANDCUFFS. Be prepared to the locked in or lose it when you have had enough.

Pros

Company culture is everything at NHS, which remains my biggest highlight. I’ve genuinely felt valued here from the start. It doesn’t feel like you’re just another number; there’s a real effort to recognize people and make them feel seen. Teams are supportive, and people actually want their peers to succeed. It’s an environment where you can grow while also feeling appreciated for your contributions.

Cons

Like any growing organization, there are occasional growing pains as the company continues to evolve. Processes and priorities can shift, but that’s also part of what comes with progress and expansion.

Pros

New Home Star is one of those companies that really lives its values. The culture is supportive, driven, and genuinely focused on helping people grow. It’s fast-paced, and expectations are high—but that’s part of what makes it a great place to work if you like being challenged and learning constantly. What stands out most is how forward-thinking the company is. From technology to training to how teams collaborate, New Home Star is consistently ahead of the curve in the homebuilding space. They’re not stuck doing things “the old way,” and they actually invest in tools and systems that make people better at their jobs. It’s not perfect—no company is—but leadership listens, good work is recognized, and there’s a real sense of momentum. If you’re motivated, adaptable, and want to be part of something that’s growing and evolving, New Home Star is a great place to be.

Cons

The pace and expectations can be demanding at times, especially during busy seasons or major initiatives. Things move quickly, priorities can shift, and there’s a constant push to improve and adapt. While that creates a lot of opportunity, it can also feel intense if you prefer a slower, more predictable environment.
