Pros

The company is nice to you as long as they have need of you and you don't complain.

Cons

They play games when staffing to prevent clients and caregivers getting too close. I can't recall how many times a client told me that they had days that were not covered yet and they wanted me to come back, but then I call staffing and they tell you the shifts are already covered. Begged them for hours several times because I did this as a full time job but frequently made barely enough to get the bills paid.

Pros

The clients appreciate you. They really do, and they'll let you know how happy they are to have you. This job does make a real difference in people's lives day by day. A lot of independence and trust is placed in you as a CG. I appreciate that.

Cons

You never really know what you're walking into. No matter what the care plan says there will often times be issues not stated in the care plan, no matter how many questions you ask for clarification. Usually environmental challenges. Clients normally get 40 reimbursable miles a month and after those are gone (they go quick), its at the caregivers expense to run errands for the client.
