Pros

Flexible hours Good group of coworkers overall

Cons

Horrible health benefit options No 410k Good Old Boy system in upper management Not female friendly - saw one management level female have items thrown at her from an irate boss. Another was harassed by her coworker that worked next to her all day long with no action by HR. Goo talent left the company instead of put up with the hostile environment. When named one of the hottest companies in the Bay Area the comment thread was dominated by discussion of the un-friendly female atmosphere and eventually taken down (probably by the company's request). Would not want my sister or any of my female friends to work here.

This post largely inconsistent with what we are hearing from employees, and is simply wrong in a couple of respects. It is inconsistent with the feedback in our quarterly, confidential New Relic surveys. None of those many hundreds of comments included a complaint about something being thrown by an irate manager, and no one has said such to me or one of my group. However, if this in fact occurred, go immediately to the offer at the end of this post. We will not tolerate such behavior. Further, we are committed to being one of the best tech employers for women, bar none. We are not perfect, but the events described do not fit anything we have heard. More facts: We have more women at all levels, including executives and Board of Directors, than the vast majority of our peers. In fact, we work to change the industry’s overwhelmingly male-dominated demographic by sponsoring numerous events for women in tech, and by encouraging staff – male and female – to participate. We were a charter employer of Hackbright grads, and have made offers with virtually every graduating class since. A few other facts: Our health plans are clearly at or above any reasonable standard. We have good Blue Shield and Kaiser options, with *95%* of premium costs paid by New Relic (65% for dependents). Same for Dental and Vision. Contrary to the post, we do in fact have a 401(k) plan, though we do not yet have a company match (planning for that is in motion, as we speak). I’d be happy to send a list of all of our benefits to anyone who asks, and am confident that you will find it to be a strong package. The offer: I don't doubt that we have made mistakes. I am anxious to meet and hear in detail the concerns of any employee who feels even slightly similar to the feelings in this post. Privately and without repercussions. Or, if you prefer, with any other member of the executive team. We want to hear, understand and act, if there are events like those described, events that are contrary to everything we stand for. We intend to provide excellent benefits, good work, and great management, and to advocate for and support the success of women and other diverse talent in technology. If that is not your experience, I’d like to hear about it specifically and directly. Thanks, Steve (Mac) McElfresh VP, People SteveM(at)NewRelic.com

Pros

New Relic truly walks the walk. I love that the company leans into a Challenger Mindset; it creates a dynamic where we are always improving and staying ahead of the curve. Even as a new hire, my perspective feels valued. Beyond the tech, the culture is unprecedented. Everyone is incredibly helpful and stays Accountable to one another. It’s rare to find a place that is this friendly while still maintaining a high bar for getting work done.

Cons

Still in the honeymoon phase, but navigating the vast amount of internal documentation can be a bit of a whirlwind during the first month; definitely feel like "drinking from a fire hose." While the team is supportive, the sheer volume of information can be overwhelming for a newcomer.

Pros

Man, this was a great company back in the day. Almost everyone is gone now.

Cons

Horrific middle management. This was all a long time ago though. The people I worked with are all gone.
