Pros

good coworkers..... I'm sorry there's a 20 word minimum? Yeah okay. Sure. I'll keep typing then. Is that 20 words yet? Hmm. Nope. Okay. Still typing. Wait for it. That should be sufficient. Oh I suppose the benefits are decent. By that I mean you have benefits.

Cons

Kids, sit down. I'm going to tell you the story of a company that is so bad you won't believe it's real. Trust me, I've told my friends about this place and they think I'm making most of it up. That's okay. There's a lot more I could say, but let's just stick to the major red flags. Read these and be warned. > This company makes a profit in the billions every year. Every year. Yet every year they try to make it seem like they failed their goals so they're not going to give bonuses to employees. Oh what about those goals you say? They are usually unreachable like 30% growth year over year in an already tough ecommerce market. The only place to get any kind of substantial bonus is the product management department and even they get shafted on a regular basis. Basically, this company tries every possible way to not give you money. > On that note, there is no raise structure in place. It is extremely difficult to get a promotion even, which is why most people don't try to do well at their jobs because hard work is not rewarded. Instead, if you worked extra hard a quarter they'll expect you to do that all the time and take on more work because apparently you weren't doing enough to begin with. There is no incentive to do better so most people do the very least of what's expected of them. In order to get a higher salary, you have to literally transfer to a different job, and now that's difficult to do because they've put all these ridiculous approval structures in place. > Which leads me to the big one: bureaucracy. Good grief. Even Tywin Lannister would have a hard time keeping his head on in this place. My coworkers and I joked all the time about how this is like being in Game of Thrones as a peasant or serf. We're just expecting to be attacked at every turn. Their approval structure and paperwork pileup is so great it can sometimes take months to get a new job posting listed on the career site. >HR is a joke. The turnover is so high and it's probably the worst department to work in at the entire company. HR's job is to protect the company, full stop. So good luck trying to get any grievances on record. They will tell you it's your fault. They will make it seem you were the bad employee, but they do so in a way that doesn't bring a lawsuit down upon them. People in upper management are the biggest idiots you have ever seen, and yet they stay on because they do what the board of directors and the CEO tells them to do. The CMO in particular is a snake. He shows up to meetings every now and then to spew some corporate crap and then leaves. He will throw his underlings under the bus if he thinks they will threaten his position there. Everyone has an agenda here. And God help you if you get in the way of it. > At the same time it's extremely difficult to be fired. They don't to pay unemployment insurance. You have to pretty much do something illegal or anger one of the Executives. People have gotten written up by their management and then promoted later. Oh but the illegal thing? Yeah even that won't get you fired sometimes if you're a longtime buddy of the CEO. I guess they preferred getting shafted by their friends over potential strangers. > The biggest laugh is that they go through this cycle every two years of getting a new crusty white dude to represent the company. They talk about change and revamping everything and then they start seeing how much money they're losing (nevermind that change takes time and money), they fire all of the white people and go back to what they know. It's hilarious. In the time I've been here it's happened two times. The current snake of a CMO better watch out. His time is about to run out. The ONLY and I mean the ONLY redeeming thing about this black hole of suck is the people. Because of the brand, Newegg attracts good people. Only the good people realize about 6 months in what a mistake they've made and then they leave. It's a shame. This place could really be something if it treated its employees as well as it treated its customers.

Cons

As a global company with a diverse workforce, communication styles can vary across teams. In some situations, discussions may take place in languages other than English, which can occasionally create challenges for employees who are not fluent in those languages.
