Pros

Full time animation work, benefits, PTO, unpaid holidays, decent pay (if you were getting the same as everyone else)

Cons

-Animation department run by people who don't understand the animation pipeline -Strict 1 week deadlines for 8+ minute Youtube videos (from storyboards to final animation, 1 week total) -Grind culture -Unpaid holidays. Company would "guarantee" time off for the holidays but would then turn around and say "IF you want the time off, you have to do this, this, this, etc". Also promised no weekend work leading up to holidays and then required it as holidays came closer -Work conducted over Discord. Didn't require work Discord account so employees used their personal ones. A supervisor looked through PRIVATE discord chats and fired 90% of the animation department based on trivial things people had said, and things that people wanted to change about the company so it was a better place to work -Hired and promoted people to "team lead" position, but gave them no managerial training. Supervisors also constantly undermined team lead decisions. What's the point of a "team lead" if they can't lead a team to your liking? -Company claims to be receptive to feedback, but then fires people for talking about how to bring up their issues with management in a constructive way

Pros

- Nearly all employees are salary (non-exempt) meaning they can still accrue OT pay. - 120 hours of PTO - Consistent, reasonable work in an entertainment business full of turnover and burnout

Cons

Fully-remote work is not ideal for all employees. Most of the staff prefer it, however, and it saves substantially on office costs.

Pros

- Great coworkers who are as amicable as they are talented. - Flexible hours for remote contractors

Cons

- Sub-industry standard pay - Prioritizes hiring via contracts to avoid providing benefits. - Contractors are hired on a week by week basis despite signing a contract to be with the company for several months with no guarantee that work or payment will be provided during that period. - As an artist you're given only one week to do a volume of work that most other studios give 2-3 months for which degrades the overall quality of the work you can do. You are forced to cut corners or work past 40 hours a week. - Not enough resources are given to help artists meet those deadlines such as proper visual development art for new locations or reference images that aren't from YouTube Let's Plays. - Trend chasing projects with little to no originality. - While not mandated crunch is basically mandated with the limited amount of time to do assignments.
