Pros

Great group of talented artists Competitive pay with benefits

Cons

I believe most, if not all, problems that pertain to this company have to do with the lack of experience from management on how to run an animation studio as well as relying on YouTube for a steady source of income. Unrealistic goals and expectations were set from the very beginning, with a week turnaround for 8-10 minute animated videos made by a 6 person team. Holidays and time off had to be “earned” by a required crunch of work time and hours beforehand. Management based promotions off of willingness to work overtime and on the weekends not artistic or leadership ability. Not enough time was devoted to preproduction/pre-visualization and resulted in storyboards being revised mid week with multiple corrections having to be made mid production. Positions were left vacant while the rest of the team was expected to pick up the slack. There were inconsistencies in wages among positions and extra roles were often expected outside of job descriptions. Accommodations were only given or offered to certain employees. No formal training was offered to employees or those promoted to a lead position. Apart from all this, management was consistently unresponsive when approached with solutions or suggestions brought by the animation department despite the fact their animation team exhibited more knowledge of the field.

Pros

- Nearly all employees are salary (non-exempt) meaning they can still accrue OT pay. - 120 hours of PTO - Consistent, reasonable work in an entertainment business full of turnover and burnout

Cons

Fully-remote work is not ideal for all employees. Most of the staff prefer it, however, and it saves substantially on office costs.

Pros

- Great coworkers who are as amicable as they are talented. - Flexible hours for remote contractors

Cons

- Sub-industry standard pay - Prioritizes hiring via contracts to avoid providing benefits. - Contractors are hired on a week by week basis despite signing a contract to be with the company for several months with no guarantee that work or payment will be provided during that period. - As an artist you're given only one week to do a volume of work that most other studios give 2-3 months for which degrades the overall quality of the work you can do. You are forced to cut corners or work past 40 hours a week. - Not enough resources are given to help artists meet those deadlines such as proper visual development art for new locations or reference images that aren't from YouTube Let's Plays. - Trend chasing projects with little to no originality. - While not mandated crunch is basically mandated with the limited amount of time to do assignments.
