Cons
Signed contract to build an ecommerce website with a customer with no technology experience and little revenues. Not performing any technical work directly, using an external technology company to build website and manage website optimization. Using do-it-yourself web based software, predesigned, functionally limited templates that can be purchased directly for $4.95 per month or built/managed by software vendor for annual cost under $2,000. Newsday contract costs over $20,000 and any need to independently manage on-line products requires learning the software platform that could have been purchased at $4.95/mo without Newsday in the first place. Original contract signed in August 2013. Six month later project still not completed. At the contract price noted sophisticated web design tools, not do-it-yourself templates should have been employed and a simple eCommerce interface created without need to learn the native eCommerce application. Efforts to negate contract and receive full refund on-going. Capitalizing on growing market and customer ignorance of numerous, inexpensive do-it-yourself design solutions.
