Pros
People, health insurance, PTO, unique work environment
Cons
Destruction of culture Pay Hiring practices Hours Expectations Nexstar takes legacy companies that provide actual value to their communities and destroys their culture piece by piece. They are turning news companies into entertainment companies and sidelining news. Their hiring practices result in a serious lack of actual talent and forward thinking staff. They do nothing about toxic employees and allow them to chase countless good employees away, increasing burdens on remaining staff. They have all but abandoned actual DEI practices that promote inclusion and actively try to drive long time staff away from the company to save money. The culture that used to be so strong is now weak and lacks the drive to hold truth to power. There is no talent pipeline anymore - no reason to go into TV. PAs are gone, creative services is gone, master control is all off-site, traffic is off-site. Went from being the best place I'd ever worked before Nexstar started implementing its culture, to a revolving door of upper management and constant turnover at the lower levels. There is nobody to learn from anymore and no point in joining this industry. Stay away if you value your health.
