Thank god my coworkers are good people. They are part of the reason I still get out of bed to go to work besides needing the money.
Cons
First off, I make way below the average of what a producer in market 68 with my level of expertise should be making. I make poverty wages. We are not fully staffed because my boss dragged her feet to hire people and now we have lost that money in the budget. Currently, I producer 2 shows and have not been compensated properly for the increase of work on the same hours that would normally do my one show. I only get 3 hours to produce both and it’s so much more stress inducing that it would normally be, because of the low pay. We also do not get very good resources. The only way we get content is from AP, our ABC media partners and other stations in network. That isn’t much, that is fairly low by industry standards. We also are tied in what we can and cannot cover due to us being so short staffed, and the fact that the company likes to tie our hands due to not wanting to get sued on things.
