Pros

This job overall is fine. I would go as far as saying the day to day is great because you get to make your own schedule and generally there is no one micro managing you (if you have a decent manager). You are in the field opposed to the office so that's a huge perk in of itself. This is a great job if you need a flexible schedule and hate the office.

Cons

There are quite a few things about the company that will leave you scratching your head. For one, this is an EXTREMELY DIFFICULT/IMPOSSIBLE sale. The closer you are to Delaware the more successful you generally will be. The further your territory is the more difficult it will be (there are exceptions for areas that are brand new, you may hit a land mine if you're extremely lucky). For most, difficult is an understatement, there are phenomenal reps who struggled to sell more than $1,000 in a year (you are measured in weekly revenue that is sold). The company seemingly fails to acknowledge that each market has different struggles and generally holds all reps to the same quota ($4,400) which is down right impossible for some areas, due to poor marketing or poor expansion plan into an area that is highly concentrated with hospitals/high volume networks or competitors. Nixon does not have any factor that sets it apart from it's established competitors. They think they do, but they don't. Especially in areas with strong competitors with loyal customers. One year I put 50,000 miles on my car, we got a stipend for reimbursement and gas card, but it's not enough to buy a new car in a few years if I were to stay with the company. Don't let them tell you there are growth opportunities (this isn't true for sales, and not true at all in comparison to other bigger companies). If you're a woman you probably wouldn't consider the RSR position (it's back breaking work) and unless you are near corporate, there are no other opportunities to make a lateral move. Forget about moving up the ladder in sales, that will never happen. Some huddles and meetings will leave you feeling annoyed and like you could be spending your time doing something else. This job overall can help get you into another type of medical sales job pharma/med device, but be warned, you may be better off taking an inside sales job within one of those companies.
