Large class sizes, very low pay for hours worked after school, dedicated to “diversity” over academics, encourage teaching activism and social justice from one perspective that is borderline political despite an anti-political influence rule in the handbook, a lot of administrative meetings, don’t really involve the community despite overpowering messages of “diversity”, no formal systems for advancement to leadership or for professional reviews if unsatisfied with your work so you never know where you stand and promotion to leadership is based on friendships and feelings rather than evidence based reasoning, low value on actually educating students- readily reduce teaching hours for meetings, encourage grading and promotion practices that don’t hold students accountable to learning, removed teacher incentives focused on student growth and on participation in community through after school hours
