Pros

The administration at my campus is extremely supportive. They encourage collaboration and value instructor decisions in terms of school wide events and instruction. Overall, the culture among staff here fosters one of open communication and teamwork, and I know I can be honest with my thoughts and feedback.

Cons

The network has an important mission of helping students from disadvantaged backgrounds succeed in the long term by graduating from college. However, this can be at odds with the high focus on testing. To be fair, this reflects the current emphasis on testing within education, and tests like the ACT do play an important role on student acceptance into college. The time and focus spent on preparing for tests, however, can make it difficult to spend enough time on other important skills that are also essential for success in college.

Pros

Decent pay, pretty great benefits, pension,

Cons

Many. No feedback on performance, different noble school allow paras to get summers off, paid/unpaid, must work all summer. It’s so inconsistent. LBS1s at times don’t do their jobs and expect para to lead, yet we don’t get paid for that, prioritize test scores and gpa gaps but not actual learning, all teachers are expected to pass kids at the end of the year. Standards base grading is absolutely hurting these students and their retention in college.
