Pros

The students and community with some of the staff.

Cons

When I first started working here a lot of harmful practices were in place, but the next year changes were being made. After Covid all of the racist and harmful practices came back. When teachers spoke up we were ignored, they just hired leaders and people who either didn't care about those things or aligned to the former way of thinking, Teachers aren't consulted about things that will affect their way, what they do is perform a conversation of listening. It is hard to get promoted and leadership doesn't take in consideration the way teachers want to grow in the school - they appoint and hire who they want - sometime not even posting a role. After working here for many years, seeing and advocating for mental resources for students, black and brown solidarity work, proper treatment of students and families, the only thing that changed was my health. I quit to stay alive. The year I left 10+ staff members left and it wasn't even spring break yet. Parents need to keep an eye on the working of this network, there are many opportunities for you to sue them for negligence. They bank on your ignorance, so bank with theirs. Leadership ignored my complaints of harassment.

Pros

Decent pay, pretty great benefits, pension,

Cons

Many. No feedback on performance, different noble school allow paras to get summers off, paid/unpaid, must work all summer. It’s so inconsistent. LBS1s at times don’t do their jobs and expect para to lead, yet we don’t get paid for that, prioritize test scores and gpa gaps but not actual learning, all teachers are expected to pass kids at the end of the year. Standards base grading is absolutely hurting these students and their retention in college.
