Pros

Compared to other school settings in Chicago, Noble is the dream. Schools are well stocked with technology, very clean, and most nonsense is squashed right away so that the focus is on teaching. People care about quality and are dedicated to pursuing it. Staff and students are held accountable for results and behavior. We also have better job stability at Noble as CPS is continually laying off teachers.

Cons

Work-life balance is NOT a thing at Noble. Many people will go to work sick and will work extremely long hours. While the job is rewarding because you know you are making a really great impact, everyone knows the pay is lower than CPS schools. Another draw-back is that teachers tend to be pretty hippy-dippy, so many teachers' ideologies do not align with the political backing that noble gets from conservatives who favor privatization of education. Additionally you often encounter naysayers who think charter schools are evil and trying to destroy communities, which they clearly are not. One can choose to simply opt out of these discussions, or to shed light on the actual truth about the difference high-quality charters like Noble are making in Chicago.

Pros

Decent pay, pretty great benefits, pension,

Cons

Many. No feedback on performance, different noble school allow paras to get summers off, paid/unpaid, must work all summer. It’s so inconsistent. LBS1s at times don’t do their jobs and expect para to lead, yet we don’t get paid for that, prioritize test scores and gpa gaps but not actual learning, all teachers are expected to pass kids at the end of the year. Standards base grading is absolutely hurting these students and their retention in college.
