Pros

Noble has allowed me to build many different skill sets. Firstly, there is a large focus on collaboration, and I have been pushed to observe, reflect and engage with peers across the science department (where I work) as well as in other departments. The commitment to collaboration and a growth mindset has kept me at Noble for a longer time than I anticipated going in. Secondly, there are a lot of great ways to develop leadership skills in the Network, from serving as a leader on a department team to working on the network's Hedgehog team. Finally, the people that I work with are the HARDEST working individuals that I know. The kids are fantastic and have grown up in the network BELIEVING they must work hard to get to a great college- makes teaching a wonderful activity to be involved in. This is an exhausting but satisfying job, and I end each dat knowing that I contributed positively - only a con if you are in it for a reason other than helping the kids!

Cons

I do believe that there are great resources, but classes are sometimes larger than I would desire and lab space can be hard to come by.

Pros

The leadership team and co-teachers are very welcoming and helpful to newly hired members.

Cons

Each day presents significant challenges; therefore, new teachers must acquire skills and perform responsibilities with precision and efficiency to minimize mistakes.

Pros

Decent pay, pretty great benefits, pension,

Cons

Many. No feedback on performance, different noble school allow paras to get summers off, paid/unpaid, must work all summer. It’s so inconsistent. LBS1s at times don’t do their jobs and expect para to lead, yet we don’t get paid for that, prioritize test scores and gpa gaps but not actual learning, all teachers are expected to pass kids at the end of the year. Standards base grading is absolutely hurting these students and their retention in college.
