Pros

Retail discount There is now a movement to support women in tech. But not all teams across the company recognize it. Case in point, there are teams in which female engineers are the second class.

Cons

Inconsistency across multiple teams. It is really depending on the group and your manager. The company sells a lot products to women, and yet it was tolerated to yell, to call name to a female engineer. A female engineer was forced to write letter of resignation or else her working day would be made sure horrible for her. She was lied to, she was told, if she wrote a letter of resignation, her manager would put in a good word for her record, instead he did none of that. She was used as blaming point for all issues. Work /life balance is 3 stars because it is very inconsistent across teams, there are teams, where managers allow some wfh, while other managers sent out email to prohibit employees to wfh.

Pros

Decent base pay, somewhat autonomous, great tip potential.

Cons

The company has changed for the worse since COVID. When I came back the mood of the entire store had shifted. Gone were the days of comradery, customer focus, and taking pride in a job well done. In its place there is a new culture of cutthroat sales, a severe decline in customer focus, and worst of all a new focus on profit over customer satisfaction. When I was told that the amount the store charged for a shoe shine was not enough to do the best job I could for a customer I knew things had gone downhill for the company. Not to mention I watch a manager prey on a mentally disabled person in order to secure a sale, when the person could not understand what was being offered. Sad that such a once great company is now just another greed ridden corporation.
