Pros
While I was working there, I loved it. I was in one of the Spas and this was about ten years ago. Great people, and at that time at least, it was also a pretty great environment. I'm sure the structure in the Spas has changed, but at that time we had a decent hourly rate with a smaller commission percentage off of services and product sales. Health insurance was decent enough. Discount was 20% off. I worked in the downtown Seattle "Flagship" store, which was pretty cool with a lot of the corporate offices right above the store. However...
Cons
I had a customer sexually assault me during a service, and when I ended up reporting it to HR because I was having panic attacks, they ultimately fired me and saying it was because they found over 20 instances in my written report on where I could have stopped the attack. Word of advice, do not submit anything to HR. They are not there to help you, they are there to protect the company. They are not interested in any sort of personal issues you be having, even if they are work-related. They even had me come in after a few days off, take a few clients in the morning, and then they called me up to HR and fired me. So after being victimized by the my client, I was then immediately victimized by Nordstrom. The first leadership person I had told about this ended up claiming I said something to her that I didn't. I'd like to assume she was misremembering our conversation, but based on her statement the EEOC didn't feel like there was any evidence of wrongdoing and I didn't want to pursue a civil case because it would have been little old me against a slew of corporate lawyers. What was a great job for me ended up turning into a nightmare. My roommate at the time had warned me about going to HR as she had worked at Nordstrom previously and thought that they would either do nothing or retaliate against me. I wish I had listened to her.
