Pros
Railroad Retirement, Pension, and 401k match make for a good retirement package. Vacation policy is fairly generous.
Cons
NS does not care about its individual employees. Their quality of life is of no concern to management. Employees are asked to work any and all hours, often times 60+, including being on call 24/7. Being asked to relocate across the country with extremely short notice is common. This can often leave employees with no job, no severance, and no options. The corporate policies are outdated. The organizational structure is very militaristic, and if you aren't "buddies" with somebody in the right place, you will be passed over with regards to bonuses, job offers, and promotions.
