Pros

My particular unit has some great staff. We work as a team. The manager of my unit is very kind and always an open ear. Long residency for new grads.

Cons

- Still work with Computers on Wheels. - Have to use answering service to get in touch with most doctors (have someone else leave them a message). - EMR software is a joke. - Big surprise: we’re understaffed. - Nurse patient ratio not always safe. - Second surprise: we’re underpaid. - Benefits changed this year and are not as good. - No way to see/track exact clock in/out times (So no way to see if payroll properly added in some education time or corrected a missed punch, etc. That’s shady.) - Nursing charting expectations keep increasing, but especially with our EMR, they are ridiculous. - Sick days use PTO hours. - No incentive for speaking more than one language. - The cafeteria food is the absolute worst, and can be expensive.
