Pros

Gifts from the company on appreciation day & medical assistant day.

Cons

Don’t expect a promotion & a raise since northwell are very cheap & the managers got a favoritism problem & only promote who they like the most not about work performance more about personal interest. Recently, the new CEO changed the pay day to be later we was getting paid on Thursdays now it’s Fridays, makes no sense. The managers are very biased & unfair to employees that aren’t their favorites, they pick and choose who they want to enforce regulations to but then will let the few employees they like get away with murder & for doing the samething that the other employees that aren’t the managers favorites did such as coming in late leaving early, cell phone use at work etc. The managers will even change the time stamp to those employees that they like on their time card to reflect their work schedule so that they’re not penalized by northwell HR for being late & leaving early. Which is highly unethical & unlawful, it’s illegal. But a lot of managers are getting away with it because northwell always protects & makes excuses for their leaders & their leaders are liars, gaslighters & manipulative. A lot of stuff be going under the rug at Northwell that should be investigated. The pay is horrible at least for regular staff such as medical assistants, Northwell pays the lowest for starting pay which is $18- $24 hourly for medical assistants compared to the other healthcare organizations. Other organizations are paying much more than that for starting pay. I worked at Northwell for three years & my pay only went up $2.71, I started with flexstaff my pay was $20 then when I got a permanent position at one of Northwell offices it went up to $21 when I got the job offer, now my pay before I left was $22.71 hourly. Which is RIDICULOUS. Northwell only cares about leadership they pay providers, management & nurses good & they are apart of the union which is why I believe a lot of leadership get away with murder. Regular staff are not apart of the union. Regular staff are treated like working bees. They require you to work 40 hours a week if your not meeting the 40 hours you will get in trouble unless your manager takes some of your PTO to cover the difference. The benefits are horrible the health insurance is anthem which are the worse it’s highly expensive. Your PTO is put in one bank so sick time, vacation & personal time is all in one bank. You only get ten hours a month for PTO. Overall, my experience at Northwell was bad I would not want to work at Northwell again your underpaid, unappreciated, under valued, disrespected, singled out and violated.

Pros

Office setting; nice people, cafeteria

Cons

Overworked and severely underpaid, short staffed for the amount of patients they intake to the program (on the clinician side and administrative), very low pay for administrative workers, little to no real benefits (PTO is not front loaded but trickled in: 1 hour accumulated per pay period - it would take about 4 months to accumulate 1 full day of PTO. Sick time is a similar trickle system so you end up taking a lot of unpaid time until you can’t), due to that it’s impossible to not get burnt out. The union also hasn’t negotiated a good contract if these conditions exist for those at the basic level. Food in the cafeteria is not great and sometimes gives people the runs. Also it’s expensive (full price despite working for the org; they cannot even give discounts which is weird considering how much the CEO makes and how little we do). Feel abandoned and not properly compensated. Deeply exhausted.
