Pros
Truly great people who care about patient satisfaction and safety work for this company, and it's filled with kind, caring individuals who take their jobs seriously and work hard. I enjoy coming to work everyday and don't feel overly stressed even with a challenging workload. Decent work/life balance (at least in my role) and good health benefits. The facility itself feels brand new with top of the line equipment and aesthetics. Mostly the people who work here make it a worthwhile place to spend a workweek.
Cons
Most of my complaints are related to Corporate guidelines and HR policies, not the individual management here in Tucson. Absolutely terrible promotional/yearly pay raises, even if your job title or responsibilities changes significantly. Due to Corporate-directed cost cutting measures, NMC management frequently mandates non-direct patient care employees to use their PTO to take unplanned days off, which in the opinion of many employees (including my own) is offensive and insulting to force on employees who already receive minimal PTO hours per week. Local upper management do seem to want their employees to feel valued and supported, but it's hard to do that when the Corporate overlords that be put into place and enforce guidelines for measly yearly or merit based salary increases, forcing employees to take mandatory unplanned paid time off, cutting back or eliminating employee appreciation events entirely etc. while still clearly having enough capital to build an entirely new, top of the line hospital facilities in town, among other things? I very much feel like, despite being highly educated and experienced with a very respectable job title, like just a cog in the wheel that helps the big bosses get paid big dollars while I still struggle in a never ending cycle of being underpaid and underrewarded for overachievement. So many of us employees live minimally and conservatively but still paycheck to paycheck due to these CHS pay guidelines, when our qualifications and work experience/output clearly don't support that low of a pay grade. I enjoy my current role at NMC but would never work for a CHS facility EVER again, nor would I recommend a friend to work at a CHS facility for these reasons.
