For the Shutdowns/PTO, you accrue up to 15 days your first three years, but are capped at 25, so you can have up to 5 weeks of PTO in your account. For the shut downs, you do not have to take them, if you are planning another vacation in the future. These are planned so everyone can take a vacation and not feel burnt out.
As for RSUs, we do grant them to certain positions, depending on performance and tenure in the company.
