Pros

After 10 yrs the only positive i can come up with is many of the hard working nurses i work along side

Cons

Novant took over and patient care is no longer the focus. $ are the focus. Increased patient loads are leading to many more unsafe situations. We are told that iur assignments are no longer based on acquity but on productivity. Sounds like working in a factory rather than taking care of human beings when they are experiencing very stressful situations. I have witnessed one patient fall off a scale and suffer a skull fracture due to inadequate staffing. Somewhere between 400 and 600 jobs were eliminated yet this company continues to pay its executives millions of dollars in salaries and BONUSES! What company, with any fiscal sense, cuts hourly, low paid workers and continues to pay executives in this fashion? The reason these layoffs occured, according to administration, was that the company is losing money. Well hey Novant, guess what? Cut some exec pay and stop the bonuses! Get rid of the CFO for poor performance. Let those of us that actually deal with and love the patients do our work. Before you make the stupid decisions that you make how about actually take a walk thru the units. Explain to us why it is now acceptable to pair non infectious patients with infectious patients. Actually we dont need your explanations. Less nurses means more money for your outrageous bonuses. All of this at the risk of patient health. Shameful

Pros

Care associates are allowed to do what CNAs do, but they do not have to have the certification. Entry level pay is the same and there are equal raises between roles each year. Part time status an average of 24 hr/week, you can work more than that and you receive full benefits, two forms of bonus every year, immediate PTO (80hrs/year). 12 or 8 hour shifts available, make your own schedule

Cons

sometimes short staffed unit, so work becomes fast-paced - if you like being active and constantly moving, this job is fun.
